That is, they are required to master management theories, research methods and tools, pursue academic excellence in their professions, and apply knowledge to solving problems encountered in practice and to conducting relevant theoretical research.

The program is divided into four tracks including complex engineering project management, operations and supply chain management, complex systems analysis and optimization, and financial management and services.

- Academic Master's Degree in Control Science and Intelligent Engineering

Control science and intelligent engineering, known as the foundation and soul of automation, is the study of the theory, method and technology of control and its engineering application. The discipline aims to cultivate professionals with interdisciplinary competence and with an in-depth understanding of and an ability to apply the core knowledge to engineering practice. With the development of automatic control theory and technology, the application of automation is rapidly expanding from traditional industrial fields to other areas. The vigorous development of knowledge automation, intelligent robotics and complex network control systems, as well as the implementation of national strategies such as intelligent manufacturing and civil-military integration, have provided unprecedented opportunities for the development of the discipline of automation control. And all sectors of society urgently need various kinds of comprehensive talents with proficient knowledge of automation control theory and practical engineering ability.

The discipline is divided into three tracks, integration of management and control, intelligent information processing and intelligent systems, and complex systems control theory and technology.

-Professional Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering

Industrial engineering is a comprehensive field combining technology and management science. It is an engineering discipline that combines engineering, quantitative analysis methods with knowledge from social and management sciences. It designs and optimizes various integrated systems (including production systems, service systems, and organizational systems) to improve system efficiency and effectiveness. It is the key engineering technology to realize scientific management, technological innovation and organizational innovation in enterprises. With the advent of the Industry 4.0 era, the application of industrial engineering has been expanded to service industries, public utilities and even government departments. China is in urgent need of professionals who understand both engineering and management and who understand both traditional industrial engineering theories and methods and skills of employing data analysis tools and methods.

This discipline aims to enable students to acquire in-depth understanding of core knowledge and an ability to apply it, helping them develop into professionals equipped with creativity, modern engineering technology and management science.

- Professional Master’s Degree in Logistics Engineering

Logistics engineering is oriented to meet the demands for professionals with logistics technology and management skills in the manufacturing, service industry and related administrative departments. With the enhancement of comprehensive literacy and application ability as the core, the disciple cultivates high-level technical and management professionals to have solid and broad professional knowledge, enabling them to master modern logistics technology and methods for logistics system planning and designing, supply chain management, and international logistics. Students will be able to handle logistics planning and strategic operation, with good professional ethics.

- Professional Master’s Degree in Control Engineering

Control engineering is a vital discipline serving the country’s manufacturing, production and service industry. It requires the graduate students to master the theories of control science and engineering, systematic and in-depth expertise in the analysis, design and development of various control systems, especially of computer control systems and typical information systems such as intelligent information systems. Meanwhile, it requires the graduates to grasp the current development situation, the relations between control and management and understand the cutting-edge research of intelligence and big data in theory and practice.

The discipline aims to require students to build a solid theoretical foundation in the field of control science and engineering, while placing more emphasis on practical application training, with the ability to skillfully apply the theoretical techniques of control science and engineering to practical production and management processes, and to independently carry out research, design and development of relevant engineering systems.

- Professional Master’s Degree in Finance

The professional master’s degree in finance is designed to cultivate financial professionals with solid professional knowledge and skills, as well as broad international perspective and excellent practical ability for China's financial reform, innovation and development. Guided by the concept of “integration of the East and West, unity of knowledge and practice”, this discipline focuses on cultivating students’ awareness of innovation, market, service and international landscape, with an emphasis on developing the capabilities to innovate, manage risks, provide first-class services, and conduct international exchanges and business.

SME has been offering the program for Master of Finance since 2015. It is currently open for applicants with or without employment. For those with no employment, the program is jointly carried out with Oxford University: the students will go to Oxford University for a short-term course study and Oxford University professors will also be invited to teach at Nanjing University. For those with employment, the program serves the financial service industry in Suzhou, and so the applicants should graduate in the same year and sign employment agreement with a financial service institution in Suzhou.
